FAQ

Taste & use

Does it taste like fish or seaweed?

Only a little, and in the good way: a savoury depth, closer to umami than to the seashore. Most people who "don't like seaweed" are surprised. The pesto tastes full-bodied and green, the hummus creamy, the curries like proper curries.

Can I eat it straight from the can?

Yes — all four. They're fully cooked and ready to eat. Heating the curries makes them shine as dinner, but nothing needs it.

How much is one can?

120 g. As pasta sauce or curry: a generous meal for two. As a spread: most of a week of good lunches.

Contents & allergens

Are the products vegan?

Three are: the pesto, the hummus and the green purée. The Red Seaweed Purée contains fish sauce and is not vegan. It's labelled on the can, on the product page and in the Taster Pack description.

What about iodine?

Kelp is naturally rich in iodine — it's part of what makes sea vegetables sea vegetables. Enjoy our products as part of a normal, varied diet. Full nutrition details are on every product page and can.

What exactly is in them?

Short, real ingredient lists — on every product page, in full, before you buy. No surprises.

Shelf life & storage

How long do they keep?

Unopened: 3–5 years at room temperature. Opened: refrigerate and use within 3–4 days.

Why cans?

Because they work. Canning is a two-century-old way of keeping cooked food real without refrigeration or preservatives — and lately, the best thing in the pantry once again.
